Schneider Electric named a leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for data center infrastructure management

WEST KINGSTON, R.I. – Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)1 for its StruxureWare™ for Data Centers software suite.

As a widely-recognized source for competitive comparisons in the information technology industry, Gartner Magic Quadrant reports offer in-depth analyses and visual summaries of the direction and maturity of markets and key vendors. This is the first Magic Quadrant released for DCIM.

“We believe Gartner’s establishment of a Magic Quadrant in DCIM reflects the increasing maturity of this market as well as the need for buyer clarity. As our world grows increasingly digital, data centers become the lifeline to mission critical information and services – catapulting the need for DCIM tools to ensure efficiency and uptime,” says Soeren Brogaard Jensen, Vice President, Solution Software, Schneider Electric. “We feel being designated a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant affirms our ability to help data center owners manage these increased needs and make strategic decisions around energy usage, business needs, shifts in technology and resource optimization based on real-time analytics.”

Gartner’s extensive review process, which took over eight months, included a review of current product features, product roadmap and strategy, pricing models and customer interviews. Schneider Electric is positioned furthest for Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. Schneider Electric believes this position is a result of the breadth of capabilities of its StruxureWare for Data Centers solution, which enables the management of power, cooling, security and energy usage of IT systems, as well as its ability to bridge the gap between IT and facility management.

Schneider Electric continues to innovate its StruxureWare for Data Centers solution:

Earlier this year Schneider Electric announced a partnership with Vigilent for Data Center Operation: Cooling Optimize, an add-on module to enable the automatic self-correction of issues with temperature air flow, providing managers with improved control over operations.

Also this year Schneider Electric integrated StruxureWare for Data Centers with HP’s Universal Configuration Management Database, enabling increased communication between IT Service Management (ITSM) and DCIM platforms – allowing for an overall more cohesive management of data center assets.

Schneider Electric recently released StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4, which reduces capital and operational expenses by freeing up power capacity, right-sizing physical infrastructure and integrating with existing DCIM systems. A key benefit also includes the ability to optimize colocation management, a growing need as the cloud and colocation market continues to expand at lightening speeds.

Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare for Data Centers suite enables maximum efficiency throughout the data center life cycle, from design and build to operation, assessment and planning. For more information, visit the Schneider Electric website.
