Some operating rooms at Seattle Children’s Hospital have been closed for the second time this year after dangerous fungus was discovered in air samples, according to an article on the KOMO website.
The latest discovery of Aspergillus has closed 11 operating rooms after the mold was detected in three ORs and two procedural areas.
All 14 of Seattle Children's operating rooms will eventually be closed as the hospital investigates the cause of the recurrent problem,
The exact timing of those closures is being determined, but until then the hospital is performing emergency surgeries in the operating rooms that already have advanced in-room filtration.
