Protecting entries to healthcare facilities is key


A hospital campus has many access points that may need to be restricted during a pandemic, as well as hundreds-to thousands of patients and employees to protect, according to an article on the Security Today website,

Some of the best security practices, include paying attention to parking structures and pedestrians.

As building and facility owners and managers work to protect tenants, staff, and patrons during this crisis, it’s important not to forget parking facilities, according to an article from Building Operating Management on the FacilitiesNet website.

For the most part, shutting down parking areas isn’t an option, even during government-mandated shut-downs, because they need to remain open to serve essential workers.  Plus, during the pandemic,  security officers are locking many ancillary doors and allowing only authorized employees to enter using access control cards or PINs.

Parking facilities also are among the most dangerous areas of any campus. Emergency stations placed near pedestrian entries, stairwells and pay stations provide unimportant.
