Baptist Easley Hospital in Easley S.C., was awarded the Program of Distinction Certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, according to an article on the Powdersville Post website.

“It is the mission of senior leadership at Baptist Easley Hospital to create a safe environment for patients, for visitors, and for staff,” said Manager of Safety, Richard Collins. “They have invested in our mission by supporting security personnel as they have embarked on this endeavor to earn this international certification.”

Baptist Easley joined a list of only 24 other hospitals worldwide to achieve this certification, the article said.

In order to achieve this certification the organization must have a security director who has achieved the Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator designation, and at least 70 percent of security officers must have achieved basic, advanced, or supervisory designations from IAHSS, and the hospital has to demonstrate that it has implemented processes, policies, and procedures that enhance the safety and security of the organization, the article said.

“We joined some prestigious company by receiving this certification,” Collins said in the article. “There are some smaller hospitals on there but you also see the Mayo Clinic, the Greenville Hospital System, and some other big names.”
