Spectra 254 unveils larger portable disinfection system to eliminate HAIs on keyboards and other wired items

Spectra254, a provider of UVC light disinfection solutions, introduced today the RDS-32 Series, a portable rapid disinfection system built to accommodate larger items such as keyboards or wired items, such as patient telephones and in-room remote controls.

The RDS-32 eliminates deadly pathogens and healthcare acquired infections, such as MRSA, CRE and C. difficile in only 30 seconds. The RDS-32 is custom-made to decontaminate medical instruments, shared tools, medical tablets, keyboards, wired remote controls, in-room patient telephones, cell phones, handheld communication devices and TV remotes. Designed with a small opening on the side, the RDS-32 can easily accommodate wired devices.

“Infection control is only effective when it is comprehensive and broad, targeting not only surfaces in ORs and patient care rooms, but also the tools and instruments used in and around patient care delivery,” said Dennis Boyle, President of Spectra254. “The RDS-32 is a powerhouse, tabletop disinfection solution that can do exactly that: it can safely decontaminate everything from computer keyboards and corded telephones to instruments and cell phones in less than a minute, which is essential for busy healthcare providers.”

Spectra254’s RDS-32 Series is compact in size and designed for use at nurse stations or as a mobile room to room system for hospitals, private practices, surgery centers, outpatient clinics and other healthcare facilities. Independent laboratory testing center Microchem Laboratory has tested and verified that the RDS-32 Series system kills 99.96 percent of C. difficile spores (a log rate of 3.43 Log10) and eliminates 99.97 percent of MRSA contaminant (a log rate of 3.49 Log10) in 30 seconds.

Spectra254’s RDS-32 Series uses six custom built UVC germicidal bulbs to kill HAIs such as MRSA, CRE and C. difficile. RDS-32 Series systems feature a one-click start and reset for easy use. The RDS-32 Series’ Ultra Pure Quartz Shelf allows UVC wavelength to reach the underside of an object, while its visual, audio and a digital display provide information about each decontamination cycle. The RDS-32 Series is operated with easy to use controls on the unit itself.

The RDS-32 Series is made for daily use in disinfecting a wide range of patient care, administrative, diagnostic and entertainment tools. The system may be purchased alone or as part of a comprehensive Spectra254 solution, the only comprehensive suite of UVC light technology in the market today.
