Steps to re-opening after a disaster

The Joint Commission published a new Emergency Management Health Care Environment Checklist

The Joint Commission (TJC) published a new Emergency Management Health Care Environment Checklist on its website to help healthcare organizations reopen after a disaster, according to an article on the HCPro website.

The checklist was developed at the request of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response.

The list covers clinical and environmental issues, and addresses post-disaster elements that need addressing before reopening.

A TJC official urges hospitals to customize the list based on  community, regional and state relationships.
