Strategies to decrease healthcare workplace violence

Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that from 2002 to 2013 incidents of serious workplace violence were, on average, four times more common in healthcare than in private industry


Taking advantage of the resources on a new OSHA web page that provides healthcare professionals with tools they can put to use in preventing workplace violence is just one strategy to combat the growing problem, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that from 2002 to 2013 incidents of serious workplace violence were, on average, four times more common in healthcare than in private industry

The Worker Safety in Hospitals website provides information on the risk factors, associated costs and actions that can be taken to manage the problem. 

The web page includes models of how a workplace violence prevention program can support an organization’s strategies for compliance.
