Surgical instrument discoloration prompts another hospital to cancel procedures

Issue caused Tampa General Hospital to reschedule some elective surgeries


Tampa General Hospital rescheduled some elective surgeries because of discoloration in surgical instruments, according to an article on the Tampa Bay Times website.

The hospital staff discovered a slight discoloration on the cleaned and sterilized surgical tools.

Lab testing on the instruments and found no signs of infectious agents.

Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, Mich., recently switched to a reverse osmosis system for its water after some staining was found on surgical instruments.
