Surviving the Joint Commission survey

Results for any testing process are likely to be better with effective preparation

There are four key steps to success with the Joint Commission survey, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.  The same process will work for CMS, state licensing and surveys by other accrediting groups.

The first step in preparing for your survey is simply reading the standards. As tough as it is, it is worth doing at least once, the article said.

The second step is preparing the paperwork. Surveyors are on a very tight timeline and need access to paperwork at specific points during the process.

The third step is managing the survey days and understanding how the survey process works.

The final step is managing the response to the survey findings. Work with an accreditation specialist to develop plans to address them.
