A 10,000-square-foot portion of the Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines, Iowa, was converted from an assisted living unit to a skilled nursing care unit, according to a Healthcare Design article. The project focuses on patient privacy and comfort while challenging the definition of a traditional nursing home. Medicine is stored and administered to patients in the room, eliminating the need for a large medical storage room and medical carts. Rooms are equipped with smart TVs and Wi-Fi.
