Technology infrastructure can reduce costs and improve patient care

Implementing an intelligent technology infrastructure is one of the new wave of conservation measures

An intelligent technology infrastructure should be designed with several goals in mind, according to an article on the Hospital Build & Infrastructure magazine.

Those goals include:

• Providing maximum system uptime, high levels of resilience, and intelligence distribution

• Improving energy efficiency by closely monitoring and controlling energy sources

• Improving patient and staff safety through integrated video surveillance, access control systems, and protection systems

• Improve patient comfort through lighting and environmental controls, as well as nurse call services in patient rooms

Implementing a hospital intelligent technology infrastructure is one of several efficiency programs leading a new wave of conservation measures, the article said. Infrastructure intelligence is a largely untapped resource for meeting healthcare goals.
