The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence Partners With Zingbox on Medical Device Security Project

Zingbox, provider of the most widely deployed healthcare Internet of Things (IoT) analytics platform and a leader in healthcare IoT research, today announced that it has been chosen to work with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) on a consortium to develop practical, interoperable cybersecurity solutions for healthcare delivery organizations.

Zingbox is one of 11 companies chosen to be part of the consortium, called the NCCoE Securing Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Cybersecurity for the Healthcare Sector Use Case Consortium. Their collaboration willresult in the NIST Cybersecurity Practice Guide, a detailed, publicly available guide for implementing cybersecurity in the healthcare industry.

By accelerating dissemination and use of these integrated tools and technologies for protecting IT assets, the NCCoE hopes to reduce risk for companies and individuals using IT systems, encourage the development of job-creating cybersecurity products and services, and enhance trust in U.S. IT communications, data and storage systems.

“It’s an honor to be selected as a NIST collaborator and the one company to represent IoT healthcare monitoring solutions in the consortium. We are excited to offer our expertise and insights from years of research and development and real-world deployment to this much- needed initiative. We look forward to working closely with NCCoE and other collaborators on the common goal to protect our healthcare industry and ensure patient safety,” said May Wang, Zingbox CTO and co-founder.

The technology vendors selected to participate in this project submitted their capabilities in response to a notice in the Federal Register. Companies with relevant products were invited to sign a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with NIST, allowing them to participate in a consortium to build an example implementation.
