'Three-bucket' sustainability

The easiest way to accomplish sustainability goals is to take it a step at a time

Healthcare facility professionals need to know more precisely what steps they can take now and in the future to achieve sustainability. For that, they need three buckets, according to an article on the McKnight's Senior Living website.

Bucket #1 contains initiatives that could be handled now at little or no cost. For instance, install aerators on all faucets and shower heads.

Bucket #2 contains items that take a little time — up to six months — to accomplish and would cost a moderate amount of money. For instance, transfer to low energy lighting.

Bucket #3 contains long-term initiatives that would be costly. For instance, replacing HVAC units, which eventually would need to be attended to anyway.
