Tunable White LED and three new luminaires deliver greater flexibility and creative possibilities

Architectural Lighting Works (ALW) - an international manufacturer of high-performance, commercial luminaires designed for use in office, retail, hospitality, civic and academic environments  - announces the release of three new LED luminaires and a Tunable White LED lamping option that provide specifiers and facility managers with versatile and inventive lighting options.

"ALW has reputation for delivering well-crafted custom configurations and design modifications," says CEO Shira Steinbeck. "But now with our latest "Four to Explore" offering, we're providing the marketplace with products that have the creativity and customizability built right in."

"We've always prided ourselves on our ability to build to exacting specifications. And that won't change," adds Steinbeck. "Yet, what's really exciting now is giving the lighting community not only all the component-level options we do, but also products that in and of themselves provide greater design and operational flexibility."

TUNABLE WHITE LED

ALW's Tunable White LED technology allows building managers and occupants to control the correlated color temperature emitted from their luminaires. In turn, this functionality helps specifiers ensure the lighting they spec can be fine-tuned on site to the precise (and often changing) requirements of a given space and the visual preferences of its inhabitants.

ALW's Tunable White LED lamping option delivers any CCT value from a warm 2700K to a cool 5700K. Luminaires with the Tunable White LED can be tuned to provide lighting that simulates the natural color temperatures seen throughout the day and over the course of the changing seasons.

"Our Tunable White LED boards provide all the same color temperatures of all the major legacy sources — incandescent, fluorescent and metal halide — all from one luminaire," says ALW Product Manager Alex Schlemer. "So a designer, building manager or even an end-user can set and adjust those white values as conditions and lighting objectives change."

Available in more than 20 different ALW linear luminaires, ALW's Tunable White lamping option is compatible with any 0-10v, DALI, DMX or Lutron® LED dimming driver and/or controller (sold separately by others).

NOVENTA

Noventa is an LED or linear fluorescent luminaire that turns corners and turn heads by providing two-sided, 90-degree illumination.

A suspended "diamond" model provides a wide swath of direct illumination with each side combining to deliver almost 180 degrees of downward and lateral illumination. A suspended "L" model provides both wall-washing and direct illumination. A wall-mount model allows for corner illumination where two surfaces meet. And a recessed model can be installed inside a wall corner to provide a multi-faceted, luminous detail.

"Because Noventa is two-sided, for suspended and ceiling-mounted applications it's really like getting two fixtures in one — an ambient direct and a wall washer," says Schlemer. "But the ability to do illuminated wall corners from a single fixture, especially, in the recessed version, is what designers will be really excited by."

Noventa delivers up to 86 lm/W and is available in several standard color temperatures as well as Tunable White LED and color-changing RGB LED.

LIGHTPLANE 1 ROUND

Measuring a mere 1 inch in diameter, Lightplane 1 Round is a sleek and slim luminaire that virtually disappears into the architectural environment. Available in both suspended and wall models, Lightplane 1 Round features a field-adjustable light channel that can be rotated up to 350 degrees to provide direct, indirect, wall-wash or just about any variable directional distribution.

"Lightplane 1 Round can be aimed in any direction giving designers the freedom to illuminate any surface or plane from this sliver of a lighting instrument," says Schlemer. "And building owners needn’t be locked into those initial settings. By simply loosening a set screw, the luminaire’s light channel can be rotated and re-aimed."

Powered by a remote driver, Lightplane 1 Round is available with ambient- and decorative-use LED packages and can be specified in section lengths of 1-5 feet.

LIGHTPLANE 3 ROUND

Measuring 3 inches in diameter, the complementary Lightplane 3 Round was engineered to be the narrowest cylindrical luminaire on the market with both an integrated driver and a direct/indirect distribution option.

"This one is really about ease and convenience," says Schlemer. "Specifiers get the benefit of being able to provide both up and down light from a single, still relatively skinny cylindrical fixture, but without the need to accommodate for a remote driver."

Also available with a 100 percent direct or 100 percent indirect distribution, Lightplane 3 Round delivers up to 96 lm/W and can be specified with one of three lumen packages, four standard color temperatures, Tunable White LED or color-changing RGB LED. The luminaire is available in suspended and wall models and comes in section lengths of 2-8 feet.
