U.K. hospital has motorized buggy to help patients and visitors

People with mobility problems can flag down the buggy to catch a lift through the atrium at Southmead Hospital Bristol

Patients and visitors can ride a new motorized buggy to travel through the atrium at Southmead Hospital Bristol, according to an article on the Bristol Post.

Those with mobility problems or who have trouble walking long distances can flag down the buggy which patrols the quarter-mile-long atrium.

It has a specially designated space for overweight patients as well as easy access. Since July, the buggy has helped more than 3,000 passengers.

"The addition of the new buggy is a unique way for us to help visitors and patients on their journey through the hospital, and a good example of how we have worked together to come up with a solution after learning from the public's experience of visiting the new building."  Simon Wood, director of facilities at North Bristol NHS Trust.
