University of Colorado Health, formerly Poudre Valley Health System, is planning a $12.3 million freestanding emergency center on its south Fort Collins campus, near competitor Banner Health’s two-story, 22-bed hospital and emergency room, according to an article on the Coloradoan website.
The 17,000-square-foot emergency center will have 12 private rooms, an around-the-clock pharmacy and outpatient lab services.
The new emergency department would come in addition to a new and larger emergency facility included in Poudre Valley Hospital’s $102 million addition and renovation.
The new center will likely decrease the demand on the PVH emergency department, he said, but it will not change expansion plans at the main hospital, the article said.
The new facility will also include private space and equipment for UCHealth’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program, which has nurses specially trained to care for rape victims and collect forensic evidence.
