UNC Hospital Wellness Center includes climbing wall

University of North Carolina Hospital commissioned a new wellness and fitness center for use by hospital patients and staff and the community

In its recent "Last Detail" feature, Health Facilities Management magazine highlighted the climbing wall at the University of North Carolina Hospital's new wellness and fitness center.

The 38-foot rock-climbing wall and separate 10-foot bouldering wall support UNC's emphasis on preventive healthcare activities and answer the demand for nontraditional exercise, according to the article. The fitness center was designed for use by hospital patients, staff and the community.

The facility also includes areas for strength training and cardio, an elevated running track and a pool, therapool and whirlpool. It also offers treatment facilities for physical therapy and rehabilitation, the article said.
