A union representing hospital employees had alleged that at least 10 employees were sent home because Parkview Community Hospital Medical Center in Riverside, Calif., didn’t take proper precautions when a patient with symptoms that could have been the novel coronavirus came into the hospital, according to an article on The Press-Enterprise website.
Union officials said the incident shows that the Riverside hospital needs better coronavirus protocols.
A hospital spokesperson said Parkview employees “strictly follow” safety procedures.
Statewide, at least 50 healthcare workers have been sent home after contact with patients who could have coronavirus.
