The healing garden perched on the seventh floor setback of a 14-story Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Conn., is the defining feature of the facility’s design, according to an article on the Healthcare Design website. A combination of plants was used to make the garden green year-round. Because of the garden’s rooftop location, drought- and wind-resistant plants were included. The focal point of the garden is a water feature and reflecting pool.
