The Buffalo Veterans Affairs Medical Center issued the warning after a review of the disinfection process

A Buffalo, N.Y., Veterans Affairs hospital has notified 526 patients that they may be at risk for infection due to improperly cleaned endoscopes, according to an article on the Fierce Healthcare website.

The Buffalo Veterans Affairs Medical Center notified the patients of the concern after a review of the disinfection process revealed that an employee of the hospital may not have followed the manufacturer’s instructions.

The employee in question was fired and the hospital declined to elaborate on what procedures specifically were involved, how many scopes are involved.
