Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) in Boston is using video instruction to close the door on "tailgating," according to an article on the Health Leaders Media website.
Tailgating or "piggybacking" refers to the habit of holding a door open for whoever is behind you.
One example of this, was the 2015 security lapse that enabled the killing of a BWH doctor in an exam room.
To reinforce the lesson that every hospital employee has a responsibility to help keep unauthorized people out of restricted areas, BWH produced instructional videos that depict disturbingly mundane security lapses, the article said. They will be shown to all 18,000 of BWH’s employees.
