Viega expands MegaPress System offerings for pipe installation

WICHITA, Kan. – Viega introduces new caps and flanges in sizes 1/2" to 2" for the Viega MegaPress system.

Viega MegaPress is the first system to use press technology for installing Schedule 5 to Schedule 40 black iron pipe. It makes secure water-tight and air-tight connections in less than seven seconds and is available in professional distribution channels throughout the United States.

Viega MegaPress system is ideal for hydronic heat, chilled water, compressed air, fire sprinkler systems, low pressure steam and vacuum lines. Viega also offers MegaPress fittings suitable for fuel oil and natural gas applications, Viega MegaPressG.

“Since Viega MegaPress was introduced last fall, our customers have been looking forward to the line’s continued expansion,” said Monty Betts, associate product manager at Viega. “We’re pleased that the system has been so successful and that we can provide more capabilities to our customers through the new caps and flanges.”

More than 200 fittings are available ranging in sizes from 1/2" to 2" that include elbows, couplings, reducers, tees, reducing tees, threaded adapters, unions, caps and flanges. The system uses a stainless steel grip ring with an EPDM sealing element for the standard Viega MegaPress fittings, or HNBR for the Viega MegaPressG fittings, along with a stainless steel separator ring that ensures the sealing element and grip ring perform at maximum capacity.

Ideal for industrial, commercial and residential applications, Viega MegaPress is easy to use, flameless and environmentally friendly. The system performs well in both new installations and retrofit projects; it does not leave material build up, exposed threads or tarnish, creating a clean, professional appearance.

Viega MegaPress uses the same versatile pressing tools already used by many contractors and maintenance staff. The pressing tools eliminate the need for expensive and cumbersome equipment including welding tanks and threading machines.

The patented Smart Connect® feature, available only from Viega, provides a quick and easy way for installers to identify connections that need pressing, so that they are not missed.

Since Viega MegaPress is flameless, it is safer than traditional systems and eliminates the need for hot permits. The system is clean, as it requires no welding rods or cutting oils. Viega MegaPress can be installed under flow conditions, making it ideal for maintenance or emergency repair jobs, and reducing costly downtime by decreasing plant shutdowns. Press technology for the system maintains the structural integrity of the pipe.

Viega’s MegaPress system is UL and FM compliant for fire sprinkler applications and ASME B31 compliant for pressure and boiler piping, and the MegaPressG fittings are CSA LC4 compliant for fuel gas and oil applications. Viega MegaPress exceeds the most rigorous testing codes and standards in North America and is backed by a written warranty.
