CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Leading healthcare information technology provider InteliChart, Inc. today announced the selection of both InteliChart Patient Portal and InteliChart Health Information Exchange (HIE) by Washington Regional Medical System (WRMS). With the patient portal and HIE, WRMS will be positioned to acquire, aggregate and standardize patient information gathered from the patient portal and the health system’s disparate electronic health records (EHRs), and collect it into one patient health record. As such, the InteliChart platform will help WRMS streamline the exchange of patient-centric data between its hospitals, surgery center and ambulatory community practices, thereby enhancing care coordination.
InteliChart’s platform, which includes interactive patient and HIE portals, both built atop a data repository, will allow all of WRMS’ providers—some of whom use incompatible EHRs from different vendors—to overcome interoperability challenges and access the most up-to-date information about their patients. As a result, WRMS care delivery teams will be able to make enhanced care decisions and more easily manage patients as they transition between the health system’s providers and care settings.
“With hundreds of active providers, and one of the busiest emergency rooms in Arkansas, having the technology to facilitate efficient care coordination between providers across our health system and across the community is an imperative,” said Becky Magee, senior vice president and CIO at WRMS. “This improved connectivity and access to centralized patient data will better equip our team as we continue to navigate the healthcare industry’s shift toward value and outcomes.”
The InteliChart provider and patient portals and HIE technologies will allow the transfer of patient clinical records across disparate electronic medical records, and will simultaneously open the opportunity of “digital” interaction between patient and physician. InteliChart’s platform will help WRMS’ patients to play a more active role in their care by allowing them to view, share and update their aggregated patient record through InteliChart’s patient portal. It will also enable patients to directly communicate with their providers, which will strengthen patient engagement in their health, wellness and ongoing care.
“As a leading health system in Arkansas, WRMS sought out innovative ways to connect with patients, elevate care delivery and improve operational efficiencies,” said Gary Hamilton, president and founder of InteliChart. “Through the InteliChart platform, WRMS can progress with strengthening patient satisfaction, better aligning its care teams across the continuum and easing the interoperability challenges of working with incompatible technology—all of which will better position the health system to meet future healthcare demands.”
