Water restrictions, testing for legionella continue at N.Y. healthcare facility

Engineered filters on all shower heads, bottled water and bagged ice are being used

Water restrictions and testing for legionella are continuing at The Commons on St. Anthony in Auburn, N.Y., according to an article on the Auburn Pub website.

The facility is also testing residents diagnosed with pneumonia for Legionnaires' disease after one resident tested positive in April.

Engineered filters have been installed on all shower heads that are in use, bottled water is provided for brushing teeth and drinking and the facility is using bagged ice.

In addition, the facility is flushing the system regularly to keep the water moving and thereby eliminate standing water, which contributes to bacteria growth.
