Meeting the demand for hospital-level care in a part of the region currently underserved, WellSpan Health and Emerus have broken ground on a hospital in Newberry Township.
It will include an emergency department and 10 inpatient beds in a smaller, more accessible footprint than traditional hospitals while operating 24/7, 365 days a year. It is one of three new hospitals WellSpan is building over the next two years, including facilities near Shrewsbury and another near Carlisle, all of which are projected to open in late 2025.
In addition to inpatient and emergency care, WellSpan Newberry Hospital will provide diagnostic capabilities including ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), X-ray and laboratory services. The emergency department will treat common emergency care needs such as falls, injuries, burns and infections.
