Western New York VA renovates prosthetics facility

Upgrades include extra patient exam rooms, an expanded waiting room and a drive-up area for staff to bring prosthetics and equipment to the patient's vehicle

The Veterans Administration (VA) of Western New York Healthcare System renovated its prosthetics and sensory aids service department, according to an article on the WBFO website.

Upgrades included more prosthetics and orthotic lab space, extra patient exam rooms, an expanded waiting room and a drive-up area for staff to bring prosthetics and equipment to the patient’s vehicle.

The new facility will make it easier for the department to work with other branches within the VA, as well as outside providers, certified prosthetist orthotist Eileen Beck said in the article.  She said the renovations have also helped increase patient privacy.

“It went from being sort of a dungeon-like tool shed on dad’s farm to a nice up-to-date facility, said patient John Bray. "It gives you more confidence seeing that it’s brighter and the technology is now on display.”
