Wireless Efficiency to launch mobile inductive charging pad for wireless charging on the go

On April 14, 2014 entrepreneurs Michael Goyack and Lance Wu will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for QiPack, a brand new inductive charging pad that allows mobile users to wirelessly charge their devices while on the go.

Qi, pronounced “chee,” is the Wireless Power Consortium’s (WPC) standard for wireless, or inductive, charging which allows mobile users to power up a variety of mobile electronics by simply placing a device on top of a wireless charging plate, no cords necessary.

QiPack is compatible with most popular smartphone brands including Google, HTC, LG, Nokia, Motorola, Apple and Samsung. To charge a device, users simply place it on top of the QiPack charging pad on a desk or slip it into a pocket or bag to charge while out and about, sans wires.

Qi enabled devices, like Google’s Nexus, don’t require anything more than the QiPack and a user’s phone to charge the device’s battery. Non-Qi enabled devices, like Apple’s iPhone or Samsung’s Galaxy, fall into two categories; those that need a coil receiver—placed behind the phone’s back cover, over the battery—and those that need a case receiver. Both of the QiPack receivers are small and discreet, so users won’t know they’re there.

“Since 2008, the WPC has been working toward creating wireless charging technology that is available for all, but we’re ready to take it to the next level with QiPack” says Wu. “Built with a higher concentration of recycled materials than any other similar product on the market, QiPack is just 8.9 millimeters thick and has a

3000 mAh battery. Our team just can’t wait to get this product into everyone’s hands.”

On April 14, Goyack and Wu are offering early adopters the chance to pre-order some of the first QiPacks hot off the production line. Those interested in supporting his Kickstarter campaign can pre-order QiPack starting at just $45, or 30% off of the future retail price. In addition to the standard QiPack, Goyack and Wu will also be offering engraved QiPacks to prevent theft or offer a personal touch.
